It's been a long week for us. Daniel has been on the bili-blanket since last Sunday evening (10/23) and that has meant that he can't move around with me and that he gets really hot and Mom gets really worried. It also has meant that every morning he has been having his blood drawn from his heel in order to check his bilirubin levels. Poor thing, he's gotten so used to this that he hardly even fusses now. But, today his levels have gone down to 13 and we were told to take him off of the blanket and keep an eye on him. If his skin starts to darken again or does not appear to be improving then we'll go back to having his blood drawn and sleeping on the bili-blanket. Right now he is snugl asleep in his sling, making happy baby grunts!
On the other hand, in the praises category, he is definitely nursing just fine! I still have to wake him up to eat everyy 2-3 hours, but when he is latched on, he nurses for at least 10 minutes every session. And he is gaining weight no problem. His weight this morning was back up to 6lbs, 2oz from his lowest, 5lbs 13oz on Saturday. 5 ounces in two days! If he keeps that up I'll actually be able to dress him in real clothes soon! (He's still wearing a blanket with an oversized onesie right now).
In other news, I was asked to explain the Twin Cousins picture. Rose, the very pink baby who is actually on the left in the picture below, is Daniel's cousin who was due 6 weeks before him but born 2 days before him. Rose's big sisters are twins and since Grandma & Grandpa Tudor seem to get grandchildren in doubles, we've decided that Rose & Daniel are twin cousins.
what's in a tense?
